Tree Cabling and Bracing
Cabling and Bracing practices are used to provide supplemental support to weakened or damaged limbs and stems within a tree’s crown. Often these methods allow us to save a tree that would otherwise have to be removed. Cabling also helps reduce stress from damage due to loss of structural integrity, pests, disease, high winds and excessive ice or snow accumulations. Our cables will generally consist of high strength air craft grade steel, and are attached to our trees with various bolt configurations. Cables work by limiting the reactionary, severing movements in opposing limbs and stems, reducing their tendencies to fail during storm conditions. Bracing Rods can also be installed where large stems of the tree have begun to split apart, or where the probability to splitting is high due to poor structure.
These structural support systems should only be installed based on a thorough inspection and evaluation of tree structure by one our Certified Arborists. Our materials, techniques and Arlington tree services in Virginia are always in compliance with ANSI A-300 standards.
In any given year, more than one million trees in the United States are struck by lightning. When a lightning strike injures one of our prized trees, the results can be devastating. After a valuable tree is hit, we often wonder what could have been done to prevent the injury. Installation of a lightning protection system in prominent, high value trees can help reduce the threat of lightning damage.
Knowing the value of protecting specimen trees, The Tree Care Industry Association and the Lightning Protection Institute have developed standards for lightning protection installation specifically for trees, which Titan Tree Care adheres to. Titan Tree Care installs lightning protection in trees according to the industry’s ANSI A-300 standard practices and procedures. Installation of a lightning protection system in prominent, high value trees can help reduce the threat of lightning damage.
